Coming Home

Last night, I had a rough time especially since we slept alone in the hospital; Daddy and Sophia were at home with Granny and Grandpa. After your last feeding around 11:30PM, the nurse took you to the nursery so I could get some sleep. I woke up around 3AM feverish, weepy and in lots of pain. I called the nurse to ask for more pain pills, and I couldn't stop crying - blame it on my hormones post-delivery!

By morning, I felt much better. Dr. Rhee dropped by to check on me and the pediatrician also checked on you; both gave us the okay to be discharged in the afternoon. I was surprised how quickly I recovered from the c-section and how ready I was to go home even it it was only Day 3. (Most patients stay in the hospital for 4 nights after a c-section, but in New York City they seem to push you out the door as soon as you are ready since there is always a shortage of hospital beds.) Compared to Swedish Hospital in Seattle where I delivered your big sister Sophia, this hospital experience was terrible. Daddy was anxious to get us out of the hospital too because the food was so terrible and the service overall was poor. However I was lucky to have a great daytime nurse who was Chinese and was very helpful.

You had a bit of jaundice so I put the bassinet near the window so you could get some sunlight to help break down the bilirubin. The pediatrician ordered another jaundice test to make sure you did not require any photo-therapy before going home. Luckily, your test results were okay! So on Day 3, we were released from the hospital and Daddy helped us get ready to go home. You were swimming in your go-home outfit but still looked quite cute! Here is a nice profile shot of you wearing a 'got milk' beanie cap to keep you warm. We had to wait for a nurse to escort us down to the main entrance where a towncar was waiting for us. Everyone was antsy to get out of this hospital! But you seemed to be resting comfortably in the carseat. And off we went to go home!
When we arrived home, your sister was so happy to see you! And so were Granny and Grandpa - here are three generations of the Evans family!
