Fun with Dora & Diego

Today is the day after Christmas - since Daddy had to go to work and Rose had the day off to celebrate Christmas with her family in Boston, I took Sophia and you to the Children's Museum in Manhattan. I used to live on the Upper West Side, and I had no idea there was a Children's Museum up there.

The main attractions were the Dora & Diego exhibit on the 2nd floor and the PlayLab on the 3rd Floor. Sophia and you just loved exploring the Dora & Diego exhibit.

You drove around in Tico's car. . .

. . . . .and Sophia called Daddy to tell him how much fun we were having at the museum.

Next stop was the PlayLab on the 3rd floor - there was a fire truck and a police car. You two loved pretending to drive the fire truck.

You loved steering the fire truck!

Sophia enjoyed climbing on the top of the alligator in the middle of the room. You copied the other kids feeding letters into the alligator's mouth to make letter sounds.

After running around, you both found the light wall interesting and made patterns.

And, of course, you both loved playing at the sand table. What a fun museum!

After the museum, we grabbed a quick lunch at Cafe Lalo across the street - I used to enjoy going there for late-night desserts with friends during business school. Unfortunately it has turned into a tourist trap after Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks filmed 'You've Got Mail.' After lunch, you passed out in the car - you were exhausted from running around all morning. Sophia also fell asleep in the car after insisting on no nap today.

While you two slept, I drove to the IKEA in Brooklyn. Since Daddy had to work a full day, we ran errands before going home. While Sophia played in the playspace with other kids, I took you upstairs to play in the kids' furniture section since you are too young for the drop-off playarea. You had fun crawling through tunnels and checking out all of the toddler beds.

After IKEA, we drove home to wait for Daddy. Then we enjoyed all of the leftovers from Christmas Dinner. What a fun day!
